The 47th BIOTA Annual Convention at the Ateneo de Naga University

The 47th Biology Teachers Association of the Philippines (BIOTA) Annual National Convention and Scientific Sessions with the theme: Twenty-first Century: Pedagogy and Scientific Research, was held on April 12 to 14, 2012 at the Ateneo de Naga University, Bagumbayan Campus. More than 250 teachers, researchers, and students from all over the country participated in the the 3-day event. Hon. John G. Bongat, Naga City Mayor and Dr. Alfredo C. Fabay, Dean of ADNU Graduate School and incoming Vice-President for Academics welcomed the participants during the Opening Ceremony. Lifetime Achievement Awardees

The BIOTA Philippines honored former officers with lifetime achievement awards for their excellence in teaching and their years of dedicated service to BIOTA. The awarding was held during the 46th Annual National Convention & Scientific Sessions at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City on April 8, 2011. BIOTA Board Conducts 6-day Teacher Training Program in USC, Cebu City

The BIOTA national board conducted a teacher training program at the University of San Carlos (USC) Talamban Campus, Cebu City on October 17 – 22, 2011. The 6‐ day teacher training included lectures and hands‐on activities that covered different topics in biology and conducting research in the biological sciences.

46th Annual National Convention and Scientific Sessions at the University of the Philippines Institute of Biology, Diliman, 7-9 April 2011

The University of the Philippines, Institute of Biology – Diliman, Quezon City, hosted the annual convention on April 7-9, 2011. This was attended by 250 participants from all over the country. There were 6 plenary sessions, 39 posters, 18 clustered lectures,18 clustered workshops and 5 finalists to the Young Biologists Forum.

ADNU welcomes delegates to the 47TH BIOTA Annual National Convention and Scientific Sessions

The Biology Teachers Association (BIOTA) of the Philippines holds its 47th Annual National Convention and Scientific Sessions on April 12-14, 2012 at the Ateneo de Naga University, Camarines Sur. This year’s convention theme is “21st CENTURY BIOLOGY: PEDAGOGY AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH”, which aims to focus on recent innovations in the teaching– learning process, and the science inquiry approach method, i.e., learning biology the way scientists do.
